IMPACTFUL CONVERSATIONS & TRAININGS

Kevin and I co-created & facilitated a new professional development workshop for our colleagues entitled: The Gender Galaxy. We strived to meet people where they were at, awaken their natural curiosity, and get them to connect the dots between trans awareness-civil rights-inclusivity and ultimately social justice. In the post-workshop survey, participants "strongly agreed" that Kevin was an engaging, knowledgeable and effective communicator. There are plans for a small group to be cross-trained to facilitate the workshop and eventually for all employees to receive this training. I enjoyed working with Kevin and greatly respect his approach and commitment to creating spaces where we can all be heard and strive to be our authentic selves.

For over a decade, Kevin has demonstrated an authentic commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in a way that is accessible and thought provoking. In my experiences working with him directly and contracting him for his services, I have witnessed audiences - myself very much included - express how grateful they are for his unique, people-centered approach. I describe the "Kevin" experience as one where knowledge is rooted in research, conversations are anchored on relationships, and action is driven by critical hope. Because of his expertise and value for data, DEI change can be captured, strategized, and scaled - something that makes him truly unique in the sector.

Kevin aims to promote educational and career paths for multi-cultural growing communities. He is passionate about the pursuit of justice and social change. His advance knowledge and skills allow collaboration where you’ll learn to exchange views and create a shared language to discuss issues of identity, race, class, and gender. Beyond his strengths as a facilitator, Kevin has the ability to tackle and steer conversations while re-framing the purpose from convincing to learning.

Kevin truly embodies the scholar practitioner role in the field of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. As a participant in two of his trainings, 'Hood Feminism' and 'Gender Galaxy,' I was blown away not only by his expertise in the intersectional theories and histories, but also his ability to make these applicable to my everyday work in the community. In addition, Kevin's engaging facilitation style prompted lots of dialogue and deeper reflection amongst his audience. Since the trainings, I've become a better leader and inclusive mentor to my students, volunteers, and team members.

Kevin has a knack for making uncomfortable conversations feel accessible and urgent while ensuring that participants don't shy away from digging into even the most controversial topics. The welcoming environment Kevin creates lends itself to dialogue and ultimately reaching the learning outcome. Kevins asks the hard questions and provokes participants to answer them honestly and gently corrects when needed. This is what you want from diversity, equity, and inclusion trainings: dialogue, unabashed participation, and a space to make mistakes and correct them before they impact vulnerable populations at-large. I recommend Kevin's trainings one thousand percent.
